DWTS 11, Week 4 – Keep Voting!! Plus, Some Media.

Keep it up, folks. Never believe that Jennifer is a guarantee. We need votes too!!

Here’s Derek and Jennifer’s interview with George after the show:

Also, ran out of time yesterday, but here is an excerpt of Derek’s weekly Q&A with Annie from Entertainment Weekly:

Is your choreography influenced by former ballroom dance champions (I see a little Donnie Burns in there), or by movies, or anything else? –Lynn
Choreography is so specific. I think for the most part if I choreographed for anyone else, you’d be able to tell that it was a routine I created. Same with all the pros – Louis, Maks, Mark. We take our inspiration from anywhere we can. After several seasons on the show, you want to be able to keep bringing creative ideas to the dance floor. Things like acoustic week and story week really help keep us on our toes.

Derek, love your choreography. I’ve wondered if you have ideas in mind ahead of the season, knowing a waltz, paso doble, etc. are coming, and then do you adapt them to the ability of your partner? –LoveVioletFlame
I have ideas going into each season, but normally those fly out the window because each dance really does pertain to the song and the abilities of the celebrity. I do have a fun and original idea for a pro dance this season. I’m hoping I get to do it.

How long does it typically take for you to come up with the choreography for one dance? –Rebecca
I start thinking about the dance as soon as I get the music and then I keep thinking, changing and adding to each routine as the week progresses. Sometimes I add little changes in the day before show day.

If the celebrity you work with has ideas and a great dance imagination will you or have you incorporated their ideas into a routine? –Kaye
Absolutely. The thing about Dancing with the Stars is it comes to be a very collaborative effort. My partner might have some amazing ideas or thoughts and if I ruled them out completely and wasn’t willing to work with them then I might be missing the chance at creating something really memorable.

There were also two radio interviews that Derek did yesterday; one from KAJA-FM 97.3 and another from WCOL-FM in Columbus.

Get Well Soon, Cheryl Cole!!

For those living under a rock, Derek’s close friend/girlfriend/bff Cheryl Cole contracted malaria while in Tanzania. I sure do hope that it’s not as serious as Britain’s highly unreliable tabloids are reporting and that she gets well soon. I also hope that Derek is taking care of himself and not wearing himself down too much while looking after her. You hear that D? It’s a cliche, but you do no one any favors by making yourself sick!!

Derek with deVIence

You know, if Derek weren’t so cute I would be quite angry with him. :-) Yes, back on May 10 deVIence posted a song on their Facebook page entitled Epiphany with deVIence and Derek Hough. And it sure does sound like Derek singing the opening – fantastic voice. Yo, deVIence guys, I’ll be happy to promote your stuff, particularly when Derek is involved, if someone would TELL ME ABOUT IT. Geez oh man, the boy makes me work too hard to pimp him. :-)

Anyway, clicking the picture below will take you to the actual page where you can listen to the song. Go to their main page to see a comment on their wall about Derek. Tell them how much you like the song and if you can figure out how to buy it or to join their page, let me know. I’m facebook illiterate. Many thanks to loiss1724 for the heads up.

George from the ABC LA Affiliate – the man with the good interviews! :-)

People OnLine – Monday’s Dancing: What You Didn’t See

Derek Hough and Joanna Krupa had by far the most inventive costumes, with battery-fueled LED lights accenting their silver futuristic attire. “When we heard future I was like, ‘LED lights in the costume. I don’t care how you guys do it and how you guys have to make it happen. It has to be good,’ and they did it,” he explained. After the show, Hough played with the switch on his jacket and joked, “You turn me on.” A new pickup line? “I don’t think so,” Krupa said with laugh.

Yay, they included a picture!!
