Pure Derek Hough

The atmosphere on Elm Street in Neenah was a mixture of curiosity and enthusiasm today. The frame was complete, the roof was being nailed on, and it was obvious there was a whole lot going on inside the home. Nearly everyone was snapping photos of the crew at work, and shouts from the crowd of “You guys Rock!” and “Build that house!” cheered the crew on. The main attraction today, however, seemed to be Derek Hough, star of Dancing with the Stars, who took the time to greet some of his very happy fans.

Sorry, had to toss out the cherek for the Cherek fans. Don’t get accustomed to it.

Confirmation round two and a big old DUH to Piers Morgan – dude, we could have told you that Derek is charming, intelligent, funny – and just plain gorgeous – if you only would have asked US a long time ago.  Anyways, from Mail Online:

Next was Sharon Osbourne, making it one of the very rare occasions when I’m in the company of both my female co-judges at the same time. And minutes later, in the greatest miracle since Lazarus emerged from behind that stone, in strolled Cheryl Cole.

‘You’re alive!’ I cried, genuflecting in mock shock.

‘Piers,’ she sighed, ‘don’t you’se be daft already please. I’ve only just got here.’

She looked fabulous, considering what she’s been through. Wearing a shimmering dark blue dress, very high heels, and longer than usual flowing auburn hair.

And by her side was her new man, the American dancer Derek Hough.

Um, Piers?? He’s a choreographer, musician, artist and actor. Not just a dancer, although he’s brilliant at that too. And I’d like to thank my new Brit friends for causing me to think and talk with British-isms.

As she retired to the corner of the terrace for a crafty menthol, I chatted to Derek.

To say he was a surprise is an understatement. Within seconds, we were debating, at his instigation, the merits of the Conservative/Liberal alliance currently running our country.

‘How did that happen?’ he asked, as puzzled as I am by the most ludicrous pact in modern politics.

Now, no offence to Ashley, but I doubt he even knows how to write an ‘X’ when you vote.

Derek, by marked contrast, was intelligent, charming, and very, very protective of Cheryl.

Well he’s a step up,’ I whispered when she returned.

She smiled, but said nothing. Her eyes, though, said it all. They were sad and lonely last time I saw her in June. Now they’re sparkling again.

I have newfound love for Piers Morgan. Never watched his show. Might have to start.

…just a few notes. We have a forum that can be used by anyone who signs up. I realize most everyone prefers twitter or the post comments these days, so unless people start using the forum I’m thinking about shutting it down. So get cracking folks. Also be aware that I’ve changed the registration such that I have to approve anyone who signs up BEFORE they use or see the forum. And, because of some crap that I became aware of earlier today, you best be known to me if you want to join. And you can make yourself known to me, if I don’t already know you. I’m pretty easy. Most of the time. The goal here is to make it sure it is populated by Derek FANS. To that end, if people decide they want to use it, I’m going to eliminate lurkers. I can see if you’ve posted or not. If you haven’t posted at all and you’ve been a member for a month or more, I’m deleting your account. Or requiring you re-register. I’m not sure yet. I’m open to suggestion. We have a lot members but only few who were posting regularly. If you want to keep it, you best start using it. Not being mean – just have enough to do without it. May as well have it be more active if it’s going to stay. ETA: If you want to discuss other things, we can certainly create other threads that aren’t specifically about Derek.

Speaking of Twitter, my minion John (hehe) recently added a new feature to the site. Has everyone noticed the little “tweet” symbol on the right hand side of every post? If you like a post, feel free to hit that little button and it will tweet similar to what Twitterfeed does every time I post on the site. Especially hit it when a post talks about Derek getting an Emmy.

Finally – you gotta know that when people take shots at me and the site on twitter it just makes me laugh with glee. Why? Because they’re indicating that I’m making a difference, that they’re paying attention. And they’re telling OTHER people about the site. Those people come to the site and I get more hits. Hee. And Derek fans find a good resource, if I may say so m’self. Normally, I sit in front of my laptop and laugh (or roll my eyes) and ignore. But one thing I feel the need to point out to those of limited vocabulary or grammar (or who simply lack imagination) is the correct use of the word “Pure” in the title. Those who know me, do you REALLY believe that the word “Pure” is a comment on Derek or any of his…ahem…attributes? COME ON, people, I’m the bad girl. Ask my friend Dona. I’m pretty sure that Bruno Tonioli would call me a “dirty, dirty girl”. And I’m proud of it. So, with that in mind, note the highlighted sections below for the REAL definitions of “Pure” in regard to this site.

See, the word “Pure” is a reflection of the SITE, not Derek. All about Derek, nothing but Derek – unmixed with any other matter, containing nothing that does not properly belong. I feel like adding a “duh” here, but I’m sure there are a few who innocently made this egregious error. I’m the LAST person to expect or want a 25 year old man (who is HOT) to be pure. The very last.

…are on the same day!! Saturday, August 21st. So, LA area peeps, get your tickets! You can go to both because, according to Adam Shankman, they don’t overlap.

But NOTE: It is NOT clear that Derek is performing at Dizzy Feet. I didn’t ask Adam that specifically, only if they could do both. You could infer from his response (yes “we” can) that Derek is doing it, but he could be talking about him and Mia. Hard to say. Derek seemed happy to do it last year, so I’m hopeful. I’m REALLY hopeful we’ll have LOTS to celebrate that day. :::cough:::Emmy:::cough:::

…and after reading the second half of it, I HOPE it’s all true. That Derek may have saved Cheryl’s life is not remotely surprising to me – I’ve always known he was a fantastic guy. Even when he’s busy annoying me. As usual, I have to put the typical qualifiers in here, even though I want to believe all of it – just because it’s written down doesn’t make it true. From the Daily Mail – and I recommend reading the whole thing:

The X Factor star says a medical blunder left her just hours from death, and she only pulled through after dancer Derek told ­medics to carry out further tests… which showed she had malaria.

Cheryl told a friend: “Derek saved my life. If he hadn’t spoken out to the doctors and told them he thought something was seriously wrong I would probably have died.”

Today the Sunday Mirror can reveal the full extent of Cheryl’s battle with the deadly illness – and how doctors initially misdiagnosed her as having flu.

She contracted the disease by being ­bitten by a mosquito during a holiday to Tanzania with American dancer Derek in June.

When she returned to The X Factor ­auditions in Bristol at the start of July and started feeling ill she laughed off the ­sickness as a hangover.

As she was being treated Derek stepped in again and urged medics to carry out blood tests which led to the malaria ­finally being diagnosed.

She was moved into intensive care and vital drugs and fluids were pumped into her body to keep her alive.

Here’s the part that I REALLY HOPE is true:

Yesterday Cheryl and Derek were ­continuing to enjoy a month-long break in the US.

They are ­currently staying in a villa at the Sunset Marquis hotel in West Hollywood.

But we can reveal that Cheryl is house-hunting in the States and is due to meet a number of estate agents this month as she looks for her own pad.

She plans to mix business with pleasure during her trip and hopes to finish her new album while Derek gets ready for the new ­season of Dancing With The Stars.

Cheryl is also hoping to meet up for ­dinner with Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole ­Scherzinger, who has stood in for her ­during her time off.

The pair have been speaking regularly on the phone, and Cheryl wants to find out from Nicole, 32, who she thinks the best acts were from bootcamp.

Friends say Cheryl’s time off has given her time to think and she’s ­determined that her next challenge is to break America.

…he’s with his “friend”. Does anyone still believe they’re just friends? Just askin’. Now the question is, Derek (and I would LOVE an answer, cutie), are you here to pack for you move? Or are you here because August is the month you get an Emmy (fingers crossed) and find out who your new partner is for Season 11? Please put us out of our misery. Please? I’ve not seen this picture before, although it’s obviously from a year or two ago (it’s the hair that gives it away ). Splash News has one of the several dozen articles about Derek moving to London and moving in with Cheryl while he looks for his own place. Do I think this is true? I have no freakin’ clue. But I’ve decided that I might start printing some of the rubbish in hopes that maybe SOMEONE would decide to clue us in to what Derek has planned. Dude, you can tell us your plans with out mentioning the dreaded “C” word (:::cough:::Cheryl:::cough:::).

Just a little picture, but he’s “Sexy” in a “Sexy versus Skanky” article – of course. This is from the August edition – I found it from a tweet that originated from @DWTS_Gossip, I believe. Of course, the British tabloids are still talking about him, but nothing of note.

No clue how accurate this article is, but since it’s pretty nice and supposedly quotes Mark, I thought I would share bits of it.  From EntertainmentWise:

According to heat, Mark reveals that Derek is a great friend who can be relied upon in times of personal crisis.

Mark said: “He’s helping Cheryl through a rough patch – he’s very caring like that. Derek is really compassionate. He introduced me to my girlfriend.

“He’s like that when someone has a tough time. I’d had a brutal break-up a while back, and that got me through it. When things have been hard, he’s supported me in an amazing way.

“Like when my uncle committed suicide, it was very hard, but Derek was there for me. That’s what he does for people he cares about.”

That’s all very nice, but I think Derek is going above and beyond here – but Mark knows better than to put any other label on it. He knows how Derek is about relationships. Why he’s talking (if he did) is a mystery, however.
