Derek is on Access Hollywood saying that he has new “adventures” this year and that he’s looking forward to it. “It’s going to be a good year.” (YAY!! Very exciting!) Found this today – it starts out as Mark and Derek appears and does his thing (CUTE!) at the end – although you can see him in the distance at the beginning and a girl starts yelling for him. Good girl. Very short little video from Kat tales TV Blog:

…for some of you, maybe, but not for me. I don’t think I saw this video at the time it occurred. It’s an AOL video of Mark and Derek from last winter when they were touring with DWTS and BHB. For some reason, they are auto playing – hit pause on the one you’re not watching.

An interview with Maximo TV – yep, cuter every day. And on his way to London as I type. :::sigh::: He better not leave us in the dark for too much longer. I’m not the patient type. Derek, Mark, Lacey, Gilles, Jonathan, Anna T., and Cheryl (and Kenny Ortega) are in this one, in addition to lots of other people. You can hear Derek talking in the background at the end.
Let the speculation games begin. Those of you on Twitter probably saw Derek tweet last night that he was very anxious over a “gig” in the UK that came up very suddenly. So suddenly that he’s probably going to London tomorrow (Monday). So, can we figure out what he of the closed mouth is up to (and I call him that with great affection and realizing that he probably isn’t allowed to talk about some things)? Well, I’ve been scanning for clues. First off, we have this YouTube video that I don’t know that I posted when Derek and Jo were eliminated – that was one of the work weeks from hell, so I might have missed it. Anyway, I started my scan with my YouTube subscriptions – danged if they don’t have this tagged “derek hough” which is what I often do to find videos that aren’t in my subscriptions. From TV Guide:
Notice how Derek says something about he and Mark finishing their album. Then he says he has a ”couple quick choreography jobs” in London? THEN he says that he says HE has a couple of interesting projects coming up. He actually uses the word “I”. Yeah, we’re wondering about London, but it’s that last bit that really gets my mind working over time. Interesting the order he talks about them in too – makes me think this going to London on Monday really came up suddenly and is in addition to what he’s talking about in this video.
Anyway, I then went to the ABC message boards (Where the funniest thread title had to be “Mya was the true wiener”) and found this article on Strictly Come Dancing. Well, it appears that SCD ratings seriously tanked this current season against their competition. The current season (or “series” to the brits) doesn’t end until Christmas. And Derek is going over tomorrow. I don’t know why SCD would make him so nervous – he’s the best choreographer around! In any case, the timing here is interesting. Hot, young American pro comes in to choreograph a couple pro dances? Or DANCE in a couple pro dances? Might boost the ratings for the last couple weeks. Opinions? Comments? I’ve already been trying to rally our British followers for video, and one of them is who told me that the current season ends at Christmas.

FORWARD, 2, 3: Big name celebs will be booked as dancers and performers instead of this year’s no-marks.
BACK, 2, 3: The judging panel will return to the old all-pro format after Alesha Dixon failed to shine as Arlene Phillips’s replacement.
TO THE SIDELINES, 2, 3: A replacement for host Bruce Forsyth will be agreed and waiting in the wings in case he quits.
The revamp was ordered after the 2009 X Factor regularly drew TWO MILLION more viewers.
A BBC source admitted: “This has been the most boring Strictly series ever.
Oh, another interesting tidbit – it appears that SCD is bringing in a young pro as a judge for the final three weeks of the competition – and her name is Darcey Bussell. According to the UK Daily Telegraph:
”That’s the way I am. And I’m glad I’m coming in at the end of the competition when the dancers are less nervous about performing, because you can be much more critical at that stage.
”So I will not be shy about criticising them and saying: ‘That didn’t work. It hasn’t improved. You need to do a lot more work before you come back next week.”’
Asked about the Strictly age row, which saw Phillips, 66, replaced by 31-year-old Alesha Dixon: ”Age has nothing to do with judging – you’re not performing.”
She was also doubtful that the switch was a bid to attract younger viewers.
She told the magazine: ”There are other ways of getting younger viewers. Alesha is bringing something else to the panel because she had the advantage of having been a performer on the show.
”She knows what they’re going through.”
Anyone think that they might bring in more than one young judge?
Derek said “a couple” jobs – so what do you all think? What’s he doing in the UK? And what are his other “interesting projects”?? He’s killing me with curiosity. Snoopee_14 on Twitter makes an interesting observation: If Derek is headed over NOW, he could be guest judging or guest choreographing the audition rounds for the British version of SYTYCD. Doesn’t the American version have choreographers come in in the later rounds to narrow the field?
I’m getting excited. But I have to say one thing: YOU Brits don’t get to keep our Derek!! He’s only on loan to you. And that’s my final word.
Lookie what I found!! Remember D23 event? Someone named Dazepage on YouTube videotaped the autograph session. Derek is all though this wearing that fantastic blue shirt/sweater. Nice…shoulders.
