WEEK 10 – Derek and Nastia’s Week 10 Participation

DWTSFinaleNastiaLiukin

      • Despite their constant travels back and forth this season, and Derek’s injury, Derek and Nastia have had an amazing, awe-inspiring season together. I loved watching them so much, didn’t you?
      • Nastia switched from Derek, to Henry, to Sasha, seemingly with ease, and she and Derek managed to pull off some pretty incredible routines and records.
      • Calling her “Anastasia”,  Derek said that Nastia has proven to be the most affectionate partner he’s ever had, even caring for him during his convalescence. Awwwww!
      • Sunday, May 17th was Derek’s birthday. It was so neat to see all the multitude of  touching birthday wishes to him on Twitter, with cards, pictures, videos, you name it. In fact, #happybirthdayderek trended twice. 🙂
      • How lucky are we Derek fans? On Tuesday night’s finale show, we got to see Derek back in the ballroom six different times, not to mention on AllAccess. Yay!
      • (1) Derek opened the show, along with Mark; (2) he performed with Nastia in the Results Show’s introductory dance (at 1:18 in previous video link), (3) he sang with Andy Grammar in a reprisal of their Charleston with Sasha; (4) he performed in a special bumper with Amy Purdy and Noah and Sharna, and (5) he danced with his sister Julianne, Emma York, and Joey German in an amazing special performance in which Sia sang her hit song “Elastic Heart” (Sia requested that Derek perform to it.), and finally, we saw him in that hilarious lip-sync segment, where Derek pooped. 🙂
      • Derek and Julianne choreographed the routine they danced to Elastic Heart, along with Tessandra Chavez.
      • We can’t put a wrap on Season 20 before thanking Nastia and Derek for one very memorable and enjoyable season. I will miss them.
      • And despite, not making the finals (first time since Season 9 that Derek or Mark didn’t make the finals), Derek and Nastia together leave behind a record of many impressive achievements. Let’s take a look at some of their season’s statistics.

    Thank you Dona,
I always go to your stats & trivia for the complete picture about the last dances of Derek and his partners! And now I know a lot more about the Charleston 😉
But wasn’t it Sadie Robertson he danced the Charleston with last season (19), since it was the Switch up week?

  2. mea says:

    So the total
    134 -Derek/Nastia
    132 -Val/Rumer
    131 -Allison/Ricker
    128 -Mark/Willow

  3. Betty says:

Thanks, Dona for the stats report and trivia. My opinion may not matter, but I think Nastia and Derek are great together! Don’t see how they’re doing it, guess they still have that youthful stamina! Hope they hold up for the season! Thanks again.

  4. Jane says:

Great post, Dona – love that they’re so compatible. I have a feeling that at the end of this season “6” will be their new favorite number.

    • Mei says:

Hope so too. If anyone deserves the Gold MBT, it should be Derek for his talent and all that he brings to DWTS!! Nastia is doing great in my opinion, considering the amount of time they have to practise. Thought I remember on one show that Bruno, Carrie Ann and Julianne said that they will be focusing on techniques from the dancers this season??

  5. JoAnna says:

Thanks Dona! Your statistics & trivia are always so interesting, well written and fun!!! Love the numerology…4s and 5s…gonna be interesting to see how that plays out 🙂

  6. nobleze says:

Yippee! Always look forward to your weekly stats & trivia, Dona. So fun and informative! Thank you very, very much!

  7. Sharon1 says:

Thanks Dona I love your statistical reports and trivia. The number 4 scenarios are very interesting. Looking forward to see what all these two can bring to the dance floor.
