Great to hear DH sing my favorite ballad, “The Way You Look Tonight”, the way it should be sung — with passion! Sinatra may have recorded it, but Fred Astaire introduced it in the 1936 hit “Swing Time”– and it won that year’s Oscar for Best Song. While Fred sang it to Ginger Rogers, I much prefer Derek’s spontaneous version singing it to Romie. And with his terrific baritone voice, he even topped Elvis when he killed “Jailhouse Rock” at the second ‘Move’ tour. Add his spirited rendition of “Singin’ in the Rain” (even more joyful than Gene Kelly’s IMHO), and I think it’s high time Derek cut his own CD (and make room on his awards shelf for a well-deserved Grammy).
