Well, thank goodness for Julianne!! Her brother may be extremely tight lipped, but Julianne is more inclined to let it all hang out. She was in Toronto recently for the premiere of Safe Haven with Josh Duhamel. She let a bit more slip on her future plans with Derek – at least, according to this article with the Ottawa Sun (thanks to Lori for the article!):
Meanwhile, says the actress, she’s launching a line of shoes in February and producing a TV show and a live show with her brother Derek. She’s busy. Her career, at the moment, “Is a mix of things,” she says.
So it’s important to celebrate what you have achieved, she says. “And that’s why I fill my time doing things I love, like doing a show with my brother, or creating something. That’s the only thing I can control,” she says. “Creating.

To HoughfanPatty–Please continue to vent about the sad fact that Derek Hough’s career seems to have hit a brick wall! Your points are right on-the-mark and well-taken. So Duane Adler claims that the two-year delay in releasing “Cobu” is “normal”???!!! Baloney! “Cobu” should have been released
early in 2012–at the latest! And, just like his sister, Derek should have left “DWTS” years ago in order to go onto movie (and Broadway)stardom where he belongs. You are so right when you say “It may be time for a new manager”. Whoever has been “guiding” Derek’s career should be fired immediately; instead of laying on his/her lazy rump and grabbing 10% (could well be 20%) of his earnings every time Derek appears on the now-unwatchable and, in the case of Derek Hough, downright embarrassing “DWTS” (I used to think Len was a fairly amusing old coot, but his obvious jealousy of Hough’s multi-talents during the past season became reprehensible–I realize that Mr. Hough is the consummate gentleman, but had I been on the stage when Len unleashed what were personal attacks on Derek, I would have decked the old fart! All joking aside (and the stagnation of Derek Hough’s career is no joke), I was quite moved by your compassionate comment: “I can’t imagine how hard it is for him.” Neither can I, ‘HoughfanPatty’. But the one thing I do know is that with kind and caring fans like you, who aren’t afraid to stand up and speak out so eloquently about
Actually, it often does take 2 years or more for independent movies to hit the screen. This is not a studio movie, like many or all of Julianne’s have been – and there’s nothing wrong with that. The King’s Speech was an independent film. You hear about movies with much bigger names than Derek’s being held for years all the time.
As for Len, I have it on good authority that he LOVES Derek and is a huge fan of his. Which is actually much more likely – for the same reason that Shirley should never be a judge, in that when you are biased for someone you work twice as hard to make sure that it doesn’t appear that way.
I think all of you have to recognize that Derek has MANY interests and wants to do them all – that not only makes him difficult to manage, but it means that it could be a while before we see the results of their work. Derek himself said he had stuff in the works that might take a while to come to fruition.
Just because you don’t see something doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Much like those silly fans on twitter who complain that he didn’t wish Shawn a Happy Birthday – how do you know he didn’t?? We don’t actually have a view of his life, 27-7.
We have been waiting so long to hear what is next for him, I can’t imagine how hard it is for him. As most of us have said for a long time, he needs to be in movies and on Broadway. Why aren’t the producers and directors lining up to work with him? It may be time for a new manager. Is Cobu ever going to be released? Wonder what the holdup is? Is this delay in releasing really the “normal” as Duane Adler says? It seems other movies are released very quickly. I’m kind of afraid for Cobu, though I know I’ll be at the theater to see it and then will purchase it when it comes available. Sorry, just venting a little.
I WANT TO KNOW MORE!
Thanks Miss! I hope more details are released soon.
