It is really frustrating when we don’t know what’s going on but I think it is very possible he just can’t say right now for various reasons. As for tweeting about other things, well that might be tough right now too when his every move seems to be scrutinized. Even without that, let’s face it Derek has never been the best tweeter out there. He has times when he’s great, but he’s sporadic. He’s always gone through chatty and not so chatty periods and it hasn’t had anything to do with when he has and hasn’t needed votes. (In fact I’ve always wanted him to use twitter more for getting votes but that’s another story.) This has been a frustrating period for sure. It’s the longest period without one of his chatty spells and there’s been so much speculation so it seems even longer. I resigned myself long ago to the fact that tweeting was probably never going to be up there with Derek’s great talents. At this point my great hope is that one day he gets a bit better at letting us know when he has performances upcoming that we can attend or projects we can support. On the career front, I will hate not seeing him if he doesn’t do DWTS but who’s to say he won’t do something else really great instead? Would it be so terrible if he ended up with a great West End role? Maybe that could lead to a great role on Broadway. Whatever he does, you never know how these things turn out. We may have certain things in mind for him, but they may not line up with his interests or opportunities, or the things he wants out of life. The most important thing is that he is happy and has a life and career he loves. Just because he goes about it a little differently than we thought or hoped he might, doesn’t mean he won’t do great things and have a great career that we can all thoroughly enjoy.

I agree with “curls4derek”, whatever makes him happy.

I am sure he will find a way to the fame if he wants one. But fame does not necessarily means happiness.

He is an artist and he thinks like one.

No matter what I support him. Unconditional “love”.

Derek’s not doing DWTS this season? Where did you guys hear that from? I think as a reigning champ and a two-time champ, they’d want him on this season.

Actually Derek was quite chatty after season 9 and last summer so I disagree with fans who accuse him of only using twitter when he needs votes. He is quiet this summer which is a contrast from what he has done in the past. I also think fans need to remember he is in England. Maybe he does not want to get roaming international charges using his iPhone. Anyway, I have no problem even if he just tweeted when he wanted votes. Is it annoying? Of course. Some celebrities including DWTS pros tweet if they want anything from votes to promote a project like trying to sell an album. In the end, they all “use” twitter to get what they want. I do not think him using twitter just for votes is some horrible accusation. I would love it if Derek used twitter more. At least he is not using twitter to say he shut up to haters. This is not Derek’s management team’s job to tell him to twitter. I also think Derek uses twitter differently than others. Some pros use it to communicate with their fans and some better than others. Others to specifically promote things. I always saw Derek using twitter as more as this stream of consciousness type of tweeting. Not the most effective but that’s Derek. He is more artist first than a calculated attention seeking type. He needs some of Julianne’s entertainment savvy.

OK Let me try this again…had it all written out & the stupid power went out & I lost it. UGH! Anyway…let’s just think about this…Derek never says anything about his personal life. We only knew things about him & Shannon because Shannon shared info. Cheryl is just as private as Derek so we just aren’t going to get any info on that front! He only seems to tweet when he’s really bored or has some extra time on his hands. Obviously he’s been busy so I’m thinking he hasn’t said what’s up because he can’t or just doesn’t know exactly himself yet. As for him not doing DWTS this season…yeah, it SUCKS for us totally but realistically, he’ll get a dud partner anyway since he just won for the second time. No way he’s getting someone great! I think his career will be just fine if he takes a season off. Maks did w/no problem and others have or didn’t have the choice if they came back or not. I have no idea what will really happen but I’m guessing he’ll be moving to the UK for a bit. He is entitled to a personal life & if that’s what is best for his happiness than I’m all for it! I didn’t say I won’t be totally depressed until he gets back to the US, but that’s MY problem not his! LOL Derek isn’t stupid and I’m sure he knows what he’s doing as far as his career is concerned. So, I agree it’s frustrating not to have accurate info, but really all we can do is wait for the official announcement for DWTS cast & if he’s not on than support whatever he is going to do while not on DWTS. We all know he will be doing SOMETHING….he’s way too hyper to sit around & do nothing and entirely too talented!!

That’s my two cents. Don’t scream at me if you don’t agree!

Heidi I agree with you about keeping his fans updated. I have said so serveral times. In fact, I agree with everything you said. There’s so much we don’t know and he could help the situation out. Rumors start in strange ways but Derek’s silence isn’t helping anything. As soon as he said he wasn’t doing Strictly Come Dancing that was the end of it because it came from him. We all had our opinion but once he actually said something at least we knew for sure. I know people have a right to their privacy but this has gotten to be something else. I think has fans feel abandoned and how can anyone argue with that. Don’t you think his management team would say something to him about this?
