A Little Parachute Press
I haven’t been home much today, so I haven’t been scrutinizing the net, but I did find a couple interesting tidbits. The first one is from a blog called MuuMuse -and while complimentary, their mistake is…annoying…to say the least.
In the best surprise of the night however, Cole took to the stage for the final time to perform “Parachute” for the first time ever, along with one of Dancing With the Stars‘ professional dancers, Derek Hough.
Not only did she look STUNNING, but the choreography was as close to perfection as Cole’s ever come. While some fans may bitch about the performance being lip-synched, all I can say is: Who gives a shit? We all know she isn’t a vocalist, so why bother forcing it? This is entertainment, my friends…not a vocal showcase.
Ahem. “Cole” danced DEREK’S choreography very well – but it was DEREK’S choreography, dammit.
I don’t encourage spamming, but if you all want to correct this blogger, I won’t stand in your way. LOL
In an article related to some brou ha ha over Strictly Come Dancing, naturally Derek’s name came up. I have to say that I am loving the idea of Derek as savior to a failing TV program – in theory.
But sorry, Beeb, we’re keeping him. He even said so on Twitter earlier.
Anyway, from the Mail Online:
‘Alesha hasn’t helped increase the ratings and the rumour is that she won’t be coming back.’
The BBC is also planning to inject further glamour into the show by recruiting American dancer Derek Hough for next year’s series.
Hough, who has appeared on America’s Dancing With The Stars and was a former judge on BBC1′s DanceX, recently visited the UK to see Strictly being filmed.
He is thought to have had talks with producers during his stay.
Yeah, I’m sure he talked to the judges too, since he’s very well acquainted with them from the U.S. Version. Odds are good he knows a few of the producers too, since it’s the same or a sister production company. I do love the photo they used in the article – see below.

I’m with Lizzbeth. She said “the choreography” not Cole’s choreography. She could have been wrong, but the way it’s worded we may never know.
Derek would be crazy to move to London to do that show. Unless it could be done in the off season. Plus, doing so would ruin his musical ambitions.
You really need to watch Twitter more, John.
He’s not “moving back” to London – they’re allowed to borrow him, but they ain’t keeping him.
I often write badly. It’s true, I do. I get in a hurry, or I get excited over some tidbit of information that I uncovered and my writing goes to crap. Or I post with a big glass of wine in me.
But it really, really bothers me that people can’t read that sentence and see what’s at issue. Has our society gotten so wrapped up in Twitter and texting shorthand that they’ve lost all reading comprehension skills? WORDS matter!! Especially when you can’t hear tone of voice and all you have to go on is what’s written.
Um, hello, supposed blogger at fault here.
I figured my readers would ‘get’ the very obvious fact that the very talented and highly successful choreographer that Cheryl is dancing was also the choreographer of the routine. She’s not exactly known for her choreography, is she?
I’m sorry if you felt otherwise, but please, no spamming.

Well, Brad, I would say most (or many) of the people reading this site have never heard of Cheryl before. I certainly had never heard of her before and neither had a few of my friends. But a lot of us pay very close attention to what Derek does. When the show itself failed to actually credit Derek for the choreography (beyond listing him in the “Special Thanks to” group), I chalked it up to Derek not being a name over in the UK outside the Strictly Come Dancing circles. But it makes you wonder why he wasn’t actually called out for choreography – do they just assume people know? Or are they letting people think it’s ALL CHERYL?? At the end of the day, despite my making excuses for it and not considering it the end of the world, it’s quite rude.
So, when a blogger clearly gives credit to Cheryl – and you did, if you read the sentence structure again – it seemed as if their plan had worked. Cheryl can do it ALL perfectly!!! This phrase: “but the choreography was as close to perfection as Cole’s ever come” gives credit to Cheryl, whether you intended it or not. Look, I screw up all the time and people tell me so – that’s the life of the blogger. Sometimes you have to admit you made an error. Even a simple one of phasing or word selection. “Cole’s” part in that number was that of DANCER and singer.
The blogger said “choreography” but I think she was referring to CC’s ability to execute the choreography.
Sorry, the way the sentence is written, it gives Cheryl the credit. Better sentence structure would be in order. Here is the exact phrasing: “but the choreography was as close to perfection as Cole’s ever come” – that clearly lays the choreography at Cheryl’s feet.
That blogger should rightfully credit Derek for that stunning choreography.
I agree I love the pic, oh and derek saying, on twitter, that he has no intensions of moving to london is awesome!!!!!!!!!
