Some of you may be wondering why I haven’t posted more of the press surrounding Derek and Shannon’s break up – or maybe you haven’t. In any case, there is TOO MUCH to report on – but all the articles say essentially the same thing. And twitter has been insane! I’ve tried to assemble some links so that those who are interested may look at them.

The Insider’s article appears to be the most re-tweeted one, and they’re using a really good picture:

The most notable thing to a lot of people is the fact that they used Twitter to announce their break up. Take the blog Bitten and Bound (love that name), for example:

Dancing with the Stars dancer Derek Hough and his girlfriend Shannon Elizabeth have ended their one year relationship. How did they announce it to the world? Twitter, of course
!

AcesShowbiz headlined an article saying that Shannon broke up with Derek (is it ever that simple?) but then they don’t say that at all in their article:

Before the news could be spread like wildfire and get carried away, Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough preferred to announce their split personally on August 7. Through their respective Twitter accounts, they posted, “Hi everyone-we wanted you all to know directly from us that Derek & I have decided to end our relationship as boyfriend & girlfriend” and vice versa.

There was no reason mentioned about the separation. “However, we love & care about each other very much & will remain friends & in each other’s lives,” the second post is read. Receiving words of sympathy from fans and friends, Elizabeth added hours later, “Thank you everyone for all your sweet words & encouragement-it really means a lot to me! Xoxo”

Sounded to me like their break up was both amicable and mutual (and very mature on both their parts) – I really hate it when the man is always made the bad guy, like that’s a rule or something. And I’m a woman! Fact is, we don’t know what went on this their relationship – but that she helped him shop for his new place (or so it seems), and helped him move, not to mention went with him, Mark and Harry to the Playboy mansion last night says to me that they’re good friends, at least. Not so unusual for mature adults, in my experience!

Of course, TMZ goes there as well, using bad pictures – so I’m not linking to them. So there.    I liked Zap2it’s headline and mention:

Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough will have to find new dance partners in life.

The couple, who met as partners on “Dancing With the Stars,” announced on Twitter Friday night that they called it quits.

Rosie at the blog Accidental Sexiness wrote:

What a sad day! Dancing with the Stars former team members Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough are no longer an item! Shannon and Derek took to Twitter to break the news to their fans nearly at the same time.

I have no idea if she is being sincere or snarky, but since I love the blog name Accidental Sexiness I included it here. Although I don’t think there is anything ‘accidental’ about Derek’s sexiness – I mean look at the boy in this picture she included – fantastic jeans.

And, finally, The Sun UK screams a big ole headline, but still gives the same information as everyone else:
