I would think the living with Shannon for a year bit would have disabused anyone of the “Derek is a devout Mormon” idea, but what do I know? He and Chelsie would be gorgeous together – but he generally doesn’t go for blonds. All those blond sisters would make me think twice too.

I can see that it is up to me to disabuse all of you people of your pitiful misconceptions. Derek Hough is a Mormon. Mormons almost always marry Mormons… simple as that. Is Shannon or Lil Kim going to convert anytime soon?… Thought so. No chance, really. Chelsie Hightower on the other hand is LDS, and from near where Derek calls home away from home. Trust me when I say, sweet Chelsie is most definitely in Derek’s mind. Why marry a mere mortal, when you can marry an immortal like Chelsie Hightower? The Killers Brandon Flowers is Mormon and is also married to a Mormon. Do we detect a pattern here? The song “Bones” is about a dead end romance, (kind of like the romance between a gentile groupie and an LDS rock superstar). Unless Derek Hough quites the Church of his father and his mother completely, he will almost surely want a Mormon Muffin beside him at the dinner table. While it is true Lacy Schwimmer is also LDS, she is from California. No… It is Chelsie Hightower that has what Derek desires. It takes two to tango. And in the Celestial Paradise every Adam must have an Eve. So it is that Derek Hough must want Chelsie Hightower, for a lot of different passions. Heaven is a place where Mormon lovers can celebrate life by dancing, like a fairytale that lasts forever and ever and ever… (Do you think for a moment Shannon or Lil Kim or other names bandied about in the press even get that?… Do you even get that?) I hope the misconceptions have been assuaged by this message. I tried my best.

I agree. I don’t think anyone is to blame or that there was a problem (based on how they handled it), other than she might be ready for more and he’s not. Or vice versa!! You never know. I wish them both all the best, regardless.

Break ups are usually difficult even if they are for all the right reasons. I hate to see Derek go through this. None of us are privy to their private talks, nor should we be, but I feel that they are just in different phases of their lives. Derek is so multi talented and needs to pursue his goals. I’m a huge fan of his and wish him serenity, and all the best. I hope the press (if you can call them that) leaves them both alone.

It’s sad anytime there is a break up, I wasn’t there so I don’t know for sure but it appears they are just in different phases of their lives. Derek is so talented in so many areas he needs to go where his his life leads him. I wish them both the best. I’m a huge Derek fan and look forward to what is next for him.
